Dives & Backstroke Starts Clinic 2026

▶ INSIDE THE AP RACE DIVES & BACKSTROKE STARTS CLINIC
The first few seconds of a race are unlike any other part of swimming. They demand explosive power, absolute precision and complete commitment. Get them right and you give yourself a significant advantage. Get them wrong and you're chasing the race before you've even taken your first stroke.
This Autumn, AP Race brings together Triple Olympic Champion and 14x World Record Holder Adam Ramsay-Peaty OBE and Double Olympic Medallist Luke Greenbank for a specialist Clinic dedicated entirely to mastering one of the most influential skills in competitive swimming.
Between them, Adam and Luke have spent their careers refining every movement that happens before swimming speed truly takes over. From generating maximum force on the block to finding the perfect underwater position and carrying momentum into the breakout, they understand that the smallest details often create the biggest performance gains.
Every drill, challenge and coaching point has been selected with one purpose: to help swimmers gain measurable improvements in the first few meters of every race. By understanding where speed is created, where momentum is lost and how elite athletes consistently execute under pressure, attendees will leave with practical tools that can immediately improve race performance.
Alongside the pool session, swimmers will also complete a specialist Strength & Conditioning session, exploring how explosive power, mobility and movement quality contribute to faster, more effective starts. Together, these two sessions provide a complete understanding of the phsical and technical foundations behind elite starting performance.

Strength & Conditioning Session
Fast starts require far more than good technique. Explosive leg drive, stability, coordination and mobility all play a crucial role in creating speed from the block and the wall.
Led by renowned strength & conditioning coach, Rob Norman, this interactive session explores the physical qualities that underpin elite starts, giving swimmers practical exercises and movement strategies that they can continue using long after the Clinic has finished.

Pool Session
Spend time in the pool, being coached by Adam and Luke as they break down the dive start and backstroke start into the key movements that create speed from the very first moment of the race. From body position and reaction to underwater momentum and breakout timing, swimmers will develop a greater understanding of how the worlds best athletes consistently gain an advantage before the race has truly begun.
Designed to be highly practical and engaging, this session combines technical coaching, progressive drills and race-focused challenges to help swimmers immediately improve one of the most important skills in competitive swimming.
