AP Race Masterclasses

AP Race is proud to introduce a brand-new learning experience for swimmers who are looking to develop specific skills to take their performance to the next level: AP Race Masterclasses.

Designed for swimmers who want to go beyond participation and truly understand performance, these sessions provide focused, small-group learning, centred on details that make the biggest difference. Each Masterclass explores a specific performance theme, allowing swimmers to develop clarity around why they are doing something, not just what to do.

Each session will be led by AP Race’s very own Head Coach, Will Bell, bringing elite-level understanding, both athletically and academically, into a practical and relatable environment. Our aim is not to replicate or replace a normal training session but to create a learning experience where swimmers can slow down, ask questions, experiment and refine skills and techniques with clarity and purpose.

What does a Masterclass experience look like?

  • Focused learning environment

Maximum group size of 30 allows swimmers to understand and apply corrections immediately, rather than repeating lengths without clarity.

  • Performance understanding, not just instruction

Swimmers will learn the reasoning behind technique and race skills, helping them retain improvements long after the session ends.

  • Direct interaction with experienced practitioners

Participants are encouraged to ask questions, reflect and problem-solve, developing ownership of their swimming.

  • Transferable skills for daily training

Every masterclass is designed to be applied straight back into their home club sessions.

Our Masterclasses have been meticulously designed to provide a world-class coaching opportunity, in an intimate environment to truly extract the very best out of yourself.

Throughout the three hour experience you can expect:

30 Minutes Registration, Introduction & Session Brief
1 Hour 45 Minutes Pool based session
30 Minutes Session Debrief & Conclusion

Upcoming Masterclass

Backstroke Masterclass - 17 May 2026

Tudor Grange Academy, Solihull (13:00 - 16:00)

By linking technical precision with race application, swimmers will develop a backstroke that feels controlled and assertive.

Breaststroke Masterclass - 13 June 2026

Bath Sports & Leisure Centre, Bath (13:00 - 16:00)

Breaststroke is a stroke defined by timing and coordination. Small disruptions in rhythm can lead to large losses in momentum. This masterclass will focus on connecting the kick, pull and glide.

Freestyle Masterclass - 4 July 2026

Oundle School Sports Centre, Peterborough (13:00 - 16:00)

Freestyle may appear simple, yet the smallest inefficiencies in body position, breath control or catch can create significant drag. This masterclass focuses on refining these technical foundations.

Butterfly Masterclass - 9 August 2026

Waendel Leisure Centre, Corby (09:30-12:30)

Butterfly often challenges swimmers not because of strength limitations, but because of inefficiency and miss-timed movement patterns. This Masterclass will focus on building a stroke that is rhythmical, connected and sustainable under race conditions.

Individual Medley Masterclass - 15 August 2026

Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre, Bury St Edmunds (12:00 - 15:00)

This Masterclass focuses on reducing speed loss between strokes and executing efficient crossover turns. Swimmers will practice linking the strokes, pacing awareness and technical adjustments.

Starts & Turns Masterclass - 5 September 2026

The Links Centre, Swindon (17:00 - 20:00)

This Masterclass builds strong, reliable foundations in starts and turns across all strokes, ensuring swimmers approach each wall with clarity rather than hesitation.

Race Skills Masterclass - 10 October 2026

Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, Sevenoaks (13:30 - 16:30)

This masterclass focuses on the critical details that surround the swim itself: starts, turns, underwater phases, breakouts and finishes.

Fast Under Fatigue Masterclass - 24 October 2026

Bingham Arena, Nottingham (12:30-15:30)

The final stages of a race often expose technical weaknesses. This Masterclass focuses on developing the ability to stabilise technique under physical and mental pressure.

Race Day Engine Masterclass - 8 November 2026

Riverside Leisure Centre, Chelmsford (15:30 - 18:30)

This Masterclass explores how elite swimmers structure their warm-up, manage downtime and recover effectively between races. Swimmers will gain clarity on how preparation influences confidence and performance outcomes.

Speed Masterclass - 7 December 2026

Hengrove Park Leisure Centre, Bristol (13:00-16:00)

This Masterclass focuses on developing top-end speed and understanding how pure velocity influences overall efficiency and pacing. Swimmers will work on acceleration, stroke sharpness and power application through short, high-quality efforts.
