Katie Towner - Director of Operations (AP Race Swimming Academy)
Katie brings over two decades of expertise in the aquatics industry, with a proven track record of leading, shaping, and innovating Learn to Swim programmes at both national and international levels. As former Head of Learn to Swim at Swim England, Katie was instrumental in the development and implementation of the UK’s world-leading Learn to Swim programme, one of the largest of its kind globally.
Katie has played a key role in several high-profile campaigns and initiatives, including the Disney-inspired Swim Sessions, Inclusion 2020, and the Physical Literacy Consensus Statement for England, all of which reflect her commitment to making swimming accessible, inclusive, and integrated into broader educational and physical development goals. Her expertise has been recognized at the government level, where she has advised the UK Department for Education and Sport England on school swimming, aquatic participation, and physical literacy strategy. Internationally, she supports providers and educators through her work as a Swim England Tutor and consultant.
Since joining AP Race Swimming Academy in 2024, Katie has led the operational delivery of all programmes, ensuring excellence in every aspect, from safeguarding and staffing to timetabling and quality assurance. Her strategic vision and industry knowledge are central to the Academy’s growth and ongoing commitment to redefining the swimming experience for all.
